General Search Tips:

Use an asterisk (*) to search on a word stem, e.g.,
tax* will find tax, taxes, taxation, etc.
Use a slash (/) to find any of the specified words or phrases, e.g.,
treaty/treaties will find records containing either treaty or treaties or both.
Use an ampersand (&) to search for all words or phrases, e.g.,
naturalization & petition will find only records that contain both words.
Use an exclamation point (!) to exclude a word, e.g.,
tax ! property will find records that contain the word tax but not the word property

Date Searching:

Use a full colon to search a RANGE of dates, e.g.,
1901:1910 finds all dates between 1901 and 1910
Use a slash to search MULTIPLE dates that are not ranges, e.g.,
1901/1903/1905 finds the dates 1901, 1903 and 1905 only.
Use a < to find a date BEFORE the specified date, e.g.,
<1901 finds dates before 1901
Use a > to find a date AFTER the specified date, e.g.,
>1901 finds dates after 1901
